Bounce back to life

Calm before the effort begins.

AquaCentric is a specialised aquatic therapy and rehabilitation centre in Worli, built around a different understanding of recovery. Instead of treating the pool as simply a clinical facility, the experience considers everything a person encounters on the way back to movement, from arrival and assessment to water, land and the world beyond.

The challenge was to hold two very different qualities together. Water is associated with ease, while rehabilitation often begins with difficulty. For someone whose body has already been through injury, illness or prolonged treatment, entering therapeutic water asks for both physical effort and psychological resilience. AquaCentric builds the experience around equanimity, creating calm before therapy even begins.

Before the water

The journey starts outside the pool, with a quiet approach, a welcome drink and a health assessment that lets the visitor slow down. Inside, circular forms recall still water and ripples, extending through the flooring, identity and mirrored ceiling. Three temperature-controlled pools support aquatic physiotherapy through underwater treadmills, resistance equipment, buoyancy aids and underwater cameras, while Watsu offers another kind of recovery, where warm water and a therapist's hands hold the body.

From water to land

The experience then moves from water to land. A medical gym builds strength, while a sensory garden introduces uneven surfaces, open air, natural light and ambient sound.

Water, air and land become a gradual journey, from being supported to moving independently, and from rehabilitation back towards everyday life.

From held to on your own.
